How it works
Obi TENS is a Transcutaneous Electric Nerve Stimulation (TENS) device designed for labour, providing drug-free pain relief to support a natural birth.
Burst mode – between contractions
The burst mode operates by default and is typically used between contractions. It feels like a pulsing, tingling sensation with the pulses coming on and off and on periodically. This mode will help to promote those all-important natural pain-killing chemicals known as ‘endorphins’ and ‘encephalins’.
Boost mode – during contractions
By pressing the easy to access boost button you’ll receive an extra surge of power required to combat pain during contractions. The Obi TENS has simple up and down buttons to control the intensity of the pulses both in burst and boost mode.

Best Investment. Best investment I could have made. Helped me through the whole of my labour meaning I only needed pethodine and Gas and air.
Joanne Hunt –
A must-have. Was an absolute lifesaver in labour – have recommended it to everyone I know! As everyone recommends you stay at home for as long as possible nowadays, and hospitals won’t take you until you’re really far gone, a TENS machine is probably something of a necessity now.
Kimberley –
Amazing! Billiant. AMAZING! BRILLIANT! Does what it says.
Sharn –
Easy to use . Easy to use, really good pain relief during labour.
Hart –
Cost is very good. The cost is very good considering some machines cost more just to rent. I used this during a 2/3 day labour where I was induced by hormone drip, midwives tried to push an epidural because the drip heightens the pain, however i got through labour with just this Tens machine and gas and air. I did not even put the Tens to its strongest level as it was working so well even on low. Its simple to use and does not get in the way.

Obi TENS. Controls easy to use but found the pads didn’t have as much stick as I’d of liked, especially if I had to take off and re-apply.
I also had a tingling sensation where pads were placed for over a week after birth.
It wasn’t bad as an affordable option but I would definitely prefer 2 longer pads which I had used on a different machine for my first labour. I felt they were more effective and kept that device on longer whereas I felt the Obi almost wore off at a certain intensity.
