Why we hire direct
Elle TENS has been supporting Australian mums since 2012. In 2023 we made the decision to stop supplying third-party hire operators and go direct. The reason was straightforward: we discovered that hire companies were pairing our devices with electrodes that had not been tested for use with them, and in some cases were sourcing their hire stock from Facebook Marketplace. Pre-used, untested, no warranty history. We could not stand behind what was reaching mums in our name. Going direct was the only solution.

Why the electrodes are not interchangeable
The electrodes included with every hire are purpose-designed for the Elle TENS device. Their size, shape, gel chemistry and adhesive formulation are engineered to work as part of a certified medical system. Research published in 2025 (Johnson, Leeds Beckett University, Pain Management) confirmed that skin reactions from TENS electrode adhesive are linked to allergens in the materials, and that hypoallergenic, biocompatibility-tested electrodes specifically reduce that risk. Our electrodes are that standard. Alternatives used by other operators have not been assessed against it.

Why can I only hire the Elle TENS 2 and not the Elle TENS Plus?
The Elle TENS Plus is a 3-in-1 device that includes a pelvic floor mode, which can only be used from approximately 12 weeks after vaginal delivery. During a hire period focused on labour, that feature would not be used. The Elle TENS 2 was developed specifically as the labour hire device, refined for that purpose.
How do I know if a hire provider is a Trusted Elle TENS Partner?
Check our Safety Check page or contact our team. Trusted Partners are verified as using genuine Elle TENS electrodes and accessories. If a provider is not listed, we cannot verify the equipment they supply, and the manufacturer's warranty and our guarantees do not apply.
Are third-party hire companies covered by the manufacturer's warranty?
No. Elle TENS stopped supplying third-party operators in 2023. Devices in circulation through those companies have been outside our supply chain for over two years and are not covered by the Body Clock manufacturer's warranty, and the manufacturer's notice states that unapproved accessories fall outside Body Clock's insurance coverage.
