Elle TENS is a Transcutaneous Electric Nerve Stimulation (TENS) device designed for labour, providing drug-free pain relief to support a natural birth.
Burst mode – between contractions
Elle TENS has two burst modes. The burst mode is to be used between contractions. It feels like a pulsing, tingling sensation with the pulses coming on and off and on periodically. This mode will help to promote those all-important natural pain-killing chemicals known as ‘endorphins’ and ‘encephalins’.
The first burst mode is generally used during early stages of labour with the second burst mode used when contractions become more frequent.
Boost mode – during contractions
Elle TENS also comes with two boost modes. The boost mode is for during contractions. By pressing the easy to access boost button you’ll receive an extra surge of power required to combat pain during contractions.

Opti-Max technology
The revolutionary Opti-Max technology adjusts the depth of the pulses – upwards or downwards. This is particularly useful in the final stages of labour or when you may need extra power. Opti-Max Technology is featured on all of the Elle TENS Labour TENS devices.
No regrets . This was a last-minute “just in case” purchase before I was induced with my second child. Luckily it arrived just in time. Used it throughout labour, it and the gas got me through without the need for epidural. Looking back, I wish I’d had this machine with my first child, it would have helped with the intense back pain I experienced during pre-labour / labour.
Amazing product . I used this product for my labour. I had an extremely long labour and this product definitely helped for the first 24 hours (out of 32 hour labour). In early stages of labour I definitely think this makes a difference to pain and it helps to focus on something else. As labour got more and more intense I found it less effective and I opted for an epidural. Definitely recommend for early stages of labour though!
No drugs needed. Elle tens Australia were brilliant, I decided at the 11th hour to buy a TENS machine after waiting 4 weeks to hire one and still the hire company did not have one available.
I bought one off the website at stupid o’clock at night then spent the whole rest of the night thinking that I should have bought the next model up just in case my already weakened pelvic floor needed help.
I sent several emails and was able to change my order and have it express posted.
I got the email to say it had been delivered and my waters broke, though I hadn’t started contractions
I was able to collect the TENS, used it successfully for a 4 hr labour. The gas made me feel queasy so just used the TENS machine. I’m not going to say it didn’t hurt but it definitely distracted me and it was something I had control of.

Added more unnecessary pain. I was in labour from 11 am and gave birth at 9 pm same day. This was my second labour. I progressed to 8 cm using Elle tens,before I asked for an epidural.
With my first labour I didn’t use elle tens and progressed to 5 cm before I asked for an epidural.
I would say this:
Second labour definitely easier mentally and physically because you are prepared. Weather you have elle tens or not it will be easier.
I felt like elle tense would give me bigger pain than labour. And when I turned it off for epidural I realised that I felt better because I only experienced labour pain and not both labour and elle tens pain.
Elle tens added pain to me. It was easier without elle tens. However it’s me and you might experience different.
I would definitely recommend you to try, however you can borrow from major hospitals instead of buying it.
Both my labour I used epidural as pain relief. Labour is very painful but God designed our body to handle it, so you can make it!

Helped me through one of the most hardest moments!. The tens machine really helped me through each contraction. Having control and not relying on others to administer made a massive difference I felt like I could do it when I needed to. My only change would be to have two sets of pads so if you sweat break them you have at least a back up. But otherwise I’m Soo glad I bought this and now I’m wondering what else I can use it for!
